Using 4.0 license code on 3.5

We just recently purchased a second copy of Media Server, and will be getting the 4.0 version.  We are not yet readu to deploy 4.0 in production, where we are using 3.5.  Can I use the 4.0 code to install a 3.5 version until we upgrade all to 4.0?

    Did not get your questions correctly though i will try answering:

    You are saying you have FMS 4.0 installed and you want to put 3.5 license till you get 4.0 license at your end and want to see if it will work like 3.5 server? If that's what you are looking for - that won't happen - 4.0 FMS would not recognize single 3.5 license - you need to have upgrade license or full 4.0 license.

    Yeah, my description wan;t the best.  What I'm looking is actually the opposite of what you described.

    We have 3.5 in production, and we need to add a second Edge server.  I purchased a new FMS license, and got the 4.0 license.  We are not ready to upgrade all of production to 4.0, until we do more testing.  Can I use the new license code (4.0) to install another 3.5 Edge server?

    Once we complete testing, we will upgrade all of our 3.5 servers to 4.0.

    Nope - even the reverse won't work because 3.5 server won't recognise 4.0 license.
