Hi
I want to build or outsource a webcam component for my asp.net application. I intend to do this using flash and flash media server.

Requirement:
The purpose is to interview candidates. The candidate will be interviewed via webcam with vioce. This interview has to be recorded as a file on the server for future playback and review.

Questions
1) Is it possible to communicate between flash streaming server and iis since the registered users will be using the application?
2) I have some knowledge of flash but not action script. In your opinion, how easy or difficult it will be for me to build this solution myself?
3) If I plan to outsource this to someone with good knowledge of flash, action script and fms, how much effort does he require. i.e approx how many hours work. I want to know this because I can get an idea of what to pay him.
4) Any links that would help me with the above issues will be welcome.

I'll have a go at answering:

    1) FMS can communicate with the outside world via loadvars, XML, webservices, remoting and I probably forgot some others. It's near impossible however for other technologies to 'reach in' to FMS and poll info. But authenticating users yes, easily doable.

    2) For someone without AS knowledge: very difficult.

    3) Rough rough rough ballpark: 40 man hours.

    4) sorry i don't know any

Note that while recording streams is easy, playback of multiple streams (interviewer/candidate) is not so simple. Keeping streams in sync is not trivial. If you record just one stream then it's very easy.

    thanks stefan

However, i could not understand the multiple stream thing.

This is a one to one communication, not a conference. So, is this single stream or multiple stream?

Is it like interviewer is one stream and the candidate another stream?

yes, in a two way conference you have to record two streams, each party's one
