Why does FMS use Javascript 1.5 for server side scripting?

Just curious if anyone knows why FMS server uses Javascript 1.5, or something very much like it, for server-side scripting.

It seems archaic for a product that is on the cutting edge of media technologies.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask because I'm curious on this point.

It would be best if FMS would run the same ActionScript version as Flash Player and AIR so we could leverage our libraries and share application code. Stepping back to as1 is rough sometimes, and i get tired from making data objects twice, silly as it seams.

Yes in a way we do need to step up on this front and that's always been on our mind - but its always taken back seat because there have been lots of other things on our plate which have been higher priority - which actually makes us cutting edge. Hopefully sooner or later (hopefully sooner) we should be able to work on this front so that we can provide better server-side scripting enviroment for users.

Hello Rudresh, if I'm not mistaken, fms4 brought the advent of JavaScript 1.7, so the next level of enhancement means what: new component framework, as2, as3?

Next level of enhancment - i cannot comment what exactly is in pipeline (even if i knew i would not have been in position to talk about it) - what i mean is that we know about this ask from customers time and again which comes up and as always we would try if we can better things. But in short as of now i cannot speak about any concrete stuff.
