We're seriously considering switching to Wowza Media Server Pro. Has anyone had any experiences with this software that they would like to share before we make the switch?

    Thanks for the reply!

We're actually currently running a 30-day trial of Wowza with unlimited users/connection to fully test it before we decide to purchase or not.

So far, it's been running very well and only consuming about 240MB of RAM. The only downsides that I can see at the moment is that 1) at times, when seeking videos on the timeline forward or backward, sometimes it tends to skip several frames and then it jumps back to where the timeline was previously playing. Advancing once more on the timeline gets it working again. And 2) I really miss the FMS Admin Console. Wowza has its own version of the console, but it's not quite as nice as the FMS equivalent.

We will keep testing and post here to keep you in the loop.

ok, good to know you are getting your hands on it!

I think it is a very good piece of software personally. Well, not that I am an expert, far from it in fact.
Whackie211, I have posted a new post regarding clientid format which differs between client (letters) and the server logs (number)
I would greatly appreciate if you were to help me as I am stuck, in case you have encountered this problem before...

Thanks a lot and good luck with Wowza!

I have been using it for a client on a VPS. Although the server settings are quite not too bad (above 680 Mb Ram), it is quite hard to run Wowza Server, as it demands quite a lot of Ram (above 2Gb for good performance it is said). Of course, this depends on a lot of factors.

    Things to know:
    - Wowza is Java based, which is why it requires a lot of power and memory.
    - the single license is for 8 core only
    - the Wowza server is equivalent to Flash Interactive Server, not only Flash Media Server.
    - great support (from my experience) from Wowza forum people
    - free trial license for up to 10 users at once and 20 min max feed (if I remember correctly)

    I hope it helps!
