Question

Rotate Object is grayed out in Photoshop Beta 27.6.0 no matter what I try

I’m having an issue with the new Rotate Object feature in Photoshop Beta 27.6.0.

The option is grayed out in the Contextual Task Bar, and I can’t click it.

Here’s what I’ve already checked/tested:

  • Photoshop Beta 27.6.0

  • Creative Cloud Pro account

  • RGB

  • 8-bit

  • Rasterized layer & smart object

  • Tried it in Transform mode

  • Tried a brand new file with a transparent background

  • Color profile set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1

  • Tried both PNG and JPG

  • Tried it with my own object image

  • Also tried it with a free Adobe Stock image, and it still did not work

I figured it out. I needed to check the  “Use Graphics Processor” box in Preferences>Performance.

Hi @raymond_4565 curious if you are on an Enterprise/EDU account?  If so, it is possible that this feature is being blocked by our IT Admin?

    Thanks,

The background layer is partially locked, revealed when hovering over the lock icon. Unlock the background layer by clicking on the lock icon; Edit>Rotate Object will be available. A low-resolution preview will be created with three controls: Rotate vertically, on the left side of the box; Rotate horizontally on the bottom line; Scale on the right line; and corner controls for resizing proportionately. In the Layers panel, the new layer created is already named “Layer # - Rotate Object Layer.” Full details (a higher-resolution are applied when you finish manipulating the object.
