Question

Do I need Postscript and if so how can I get it for my Xerox?

Hi all,

I purchased a second hand Xerox printer (Workcentre 7220) and didn't read the small print on the listing and it didn't come with the PostScript module installed.

As I have a mac (OS Sierra, 10.12.6) and mainly will be printing pdf files (I make my own notebooks and diaries, usually print elsewhere but thought I would be clever and print them myself) I believe I need to locate a copy of Postscript, is this correct?

Any advice on the following would be greatly appreciated:

- For now, is 'print as image' as good print quality as if I used PostScript?

- Where can I obtain a Postscript3 module / kit?

- If I buy a cheap PC just to send things to print will it be as good as sending from my mac using Postscript?

Thank you so much

You can totally print without Postscript; your Acrobat and print driver combo will send the data for the best possible output (even without "print as image" selected). In fact, the 7220 accepts PDF files directly from a flash drive. You will of course have inferior results if you print from, say, Illustrator, as they are optimized for the Postscript world, so I guess it depends.

    As far as the module:

Unfortunately (I did a quick search) I could find noone that has these anymore.
