Question

Help with Blank Pages

I have a generated PS file:

%%PageTrailer

%%Page: 4 4

%%PageBoundingBox: 2 789 3 790

%%BeginPageSetup

%%EndPageSetup

ps

8/F6 Tf

om1 0 g

  1. 2.64 789.36 m

( )T

pr

shpg

My question is, how does that which is in red translate as a blank page and is there a way in a PS or within this block a way to detect blank pages?

Thanks,

James

Hi, James.

As far as I can tell, this code puts no marks on the page (hence the page is blank).

None of the code here is standard PostScript, so somewhere up above in the stream commands such as “Tf” and “g” have been defined. Still, their probable definitions are clear. Here’s what’s probably happening:

8/F6 Tf

Sets the current font to an 8-point Tf, whatever Tf may be.

om1 0 g

The “0 g” part no doubt sets the current color to black. (Dunno about “om1.")

1. 2.64… m

Moves the currentpoint to a position probably near the lower-left corner of the page

( )T

Prints a space character.

Note that none of this actually draws anything that would be visible.

I don’t know how you’d detect something like this, since there’s nothing technically wrong here.

Hi John,

Thanks for the response. That was extremely helpful in helping to understand what they were trying to do. I will try to find a way to detect this, if possible. Thanks very much.

Sorry, looks like my editor added a 1. to the block, above is the actual code. Thanks
