I am new to postscript.

Is there a way to know original file format(pdf, jpg, doc, txt, xls) etc from the postscript file.

Does postscript file have any such information about file type ?

Thanks Helge.

I knew that we can have information of file name and application in "%%Title:" but as you said there is no standard for this.

Many of application like Windows photo printing wizard in windows xp, when used for creating ps doesn't give any information in "%%Title:" instead it gives name like Full page fax print in "%%Title:".

That is my problem i want to know the original file format ?

Only if the application generating the PostScript file inserts such information into the "%%Title:" comment line, but there is no standard for this, not even something like a "de facto" standard.
