Best Font to Mix with Bauhaus

Hi,

I have to mix another font with a logo that uses Bauhaus.

Any ideas about either a serif or non serif font that goes well with Bauhaus?

Thanks,

L.

    Don,

It's easier to find a match with a serif font. Most sans serifs would clash, in my opinion.

Bauhaus is a distinctive enough looking font that you should be able to get away with using another sans face with it. If Bauhaus was chosen because of its modern, futuristic feel, then going back to a serif font might be retrograde.

I'd want to know more about the nature of the company and business.

Offhand, I'd suggest Utopia as a reasonable complement. Maybe some version of Baskerville.

I might even suggest ITC Garamond for its more rounded letters. But I think that Garth Graphic or ITC Century are worth considering.

Funny, I'm in the middle of a project for an organization that uses
Bauhaus in their logo...I can't say I'm overly crazy about the logo but
I'm making the best of it.

FWIW, I'm doing a journal for a dinner they're having and using Garamond
Premier Pro for most of the text.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.
I am married to Bauhaus because it's part of the company logo which I did not create.
I'm making a 10x10 feet panel. The logo is on the top right portion of the image and I have two sentences to add. I have been playing with many fonts to see how they mix with the logo. I prefer a serif font to mix with the non-serif Bauhaus logo.
The client will have final decision over this so I am suggesting some. My favourite for now is Minion Pro.

    luke,

It isn't quite as simple as just tossing the names of a couple of typefaces at you. Anyone who does is not thinking this through with you. Not only does the second font have to look good with Bauhaus, it has to work well for all anticipated uses and be suitable as part of the company's ID program and personality.

So, here are a few questions that immediately come to mind to get us started...

Is this font going to be a part of your mark? Or used separately, such as a font for text? What weight(s) of Bauhaus? Size relationship of this font to Bauhaus? Is there a graphic associated with this mark? Are you using all caps, ulc, or? What kind of business is this? What uses, media, and range of sizes do you anticipate for this mark? Color and/or black-and-white? What is the company persona?

    ...are you married to Bauhaus?
