Capitalization of software interface

In our software we have two unamed objects a main menu and a task toolbar (New, Copy). In step descriptions should main menu and Task be capitalized?

Example: On the main menu, click .... or On the Main menu, click....

Also, I've read on MS you should  use "select" not "click".  Is that common now?
