Hi everyone,

Do the number of fonts in the fonts folder (Windows) have an effect on OS performance? I know there are many many variable (number of fonts, machine specs, etc.) My question is as a general rule...

I have a Dell T3400 workstation (dual Core 2.66Ghz) running W7Pro with 8GB Ram. I would like to install all of my fonts (about 500) and I was wondering if it would affect performance.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Generally speaking, unless you really have ancient hardware, a less than well-endowed system, or really old versions of Windows, you won't see any significant performance hit in terms of any reasonable font count.

I typically have between 1500 and 2000 typefaces installed and have encountered no performance problems on my systems.
