Free Fonts - Help Us Find Them

After a small discussion in a seperate thread, it was apparent that there may be a need for a list of places where you can get free fonts.

Please contribute information that would help the community. It could be advice on where to get good free fonts or even advice on places that should be avoided because of bad quality fonts, etc. Also, feel free to suggest some places that may have inexpensive paid fonts that are high quality as well.

Obviously, avoid suggesting pirated fonts or where to get them. Keep this discussion "legit".

FontSquirrel (free for commercial use)

League of Moveable Type

And FontSpring is good at finding full-price commercial fonts which offer certain weights free e.g. Museo\Sans\Slab

There's a plethora of free fonts out there, not all of them are great, but hey, they're free.

Smashing magazine put together a list of 40 free fonts that are great for GOOD design:
