How do you merge font libraries?

I have an old computer iMac 20.5" (2008) & a new computer iMac 27" late 2015 version. How do I merge font libraries from a hard-drive backup from the 2008 and import into the 2015 computer? I want to make sure that all permissions etc. are transferred over correctly. Thanks for your help!
