I have a several fonts from the Adobe Type Library c1987 used on a Mac7500. Will these work on my new MacBookPro if I can read the 3.5 disks they reside on?

Actually, Adobe Type 1 fonts are still supported even under the latest version of MacOS contrary to the previous response, assuming these weren't really old encrypted Type 1 fonts. The real trick is accessing those font files from your old diskettes. If you can indeed access the files, you would need to copy the outline font file as well as one of the “bitmap” font files to the font directory of your new MacBook Pro.

On the other hand, you would probably be much better off starting anew with OpenType versions of the fonts you had from 1987. OpenType, both the TrueType flavour and the OpenType CFF (Type 1) flavour are truly cross-platform compatible and offer many additional features including better international character set support, additional symbolic characters, and layout features that only began to become available in 1998.

    That is impossible.
The legacy Mac OS and the current macOS are not compatible.

The file system at that time cannot be read by the current OS, so it is incompatible.
