Problems with cross platform fonts

We are using Illustrator CS3 with Adobe Open Type fonts on both a PC and Mac machine. When opening an .ai file on the PC that was created on the Mac, we get all the missing font errors. Both computers have the same fonts installed. The interesting thing is that files created on the PC open fine on the Mac without any font issues. What's the deal?

Thanks, Kevin

Never heard this one before. You could try deleting your font caches on the Mac, as a first step. If that doesn't work, contact Adobe tech support.

Right now it is the whole Helvetica and Adobe Garmond families. We have installed both families from Font Folio. It seems that the Mac names the fonts differently in the Illustrator file, so the PC doesn't reconize them. I would think this common problem for cross platform shops would be fixed by now. Guess not! Any ideas?

No idea. At first, I thought it might be a case of the Mac operator not using style links and choosing the fonts directly, but I don't think this is an issue with Illy CS3 anyway. What fonts are not showing up? Are they variant styles?
