small type foundry charging for a special license for TV/broadcast use?

Hi,New to the Adobe User Forums and was wondering if anyone had heard of a small type foundry charging a special license agreement for TV/Broadcast use?  I haven't seen this clause before and it seems a little odd.  Was wondering, if perhaps, I hadn't noticed that before or if this foundry is trying to set a new precedent.Thanks,missingbarcodes

Make absolutely no assumptions about font licenses.

There are no legal restrictions, at least in the United States, as to what form of restrictions a vendor may place into a font license.

Be especially careful about restrictions against your rights to (1) embed fonts in PDF or other files, (2) distribute documents with such embedded fonts without paying an additional license fee to the font vendor, (3) modify and subsequently use a font (even for private use), (4) use outlines of the font for artistic purposes.

Bottom line is to read the licenses thoroughly and if you don't like the terms, either negotiate for better terms with the font vendor or go elsewhere. The fact that such licenses are burdensome, unreasonable, and/or stupid doesn't legally invalidate them ... for better or worse!
