Times LT Std

Hi there

I am trying to find current licensing details on Times Lt Std.

We purchased this as part of the Font Folio 11.1 - covering us for desktop and flat ebook/PDF online use perpetually.

Searching the web now for this font mostly only throws up sites offering for free, one or two, A-Z fonts for example offer the ability to purchase, which redirects to myfonts.com, however item is no longer available. Of course Monotype own rights to Linotype library now, but thre appears to be various versions of the font faces out there.
Times LT Std - Bold, and Italic version 1.0 are Linotype AG, where Bold italic, and Roman, both later versions 2.050, and 1.040 both appear to be Adobe systems.

I cannot find via Adobe fonts under my CC subscription either.

Can anyone confirm if this font is still available to purchase, if so where from, or is it now Free to use commercially as many sites indicate?

Thank you in advance

Noel

Older versions of Times LT Std are probably not going to be available to purchase. I believe the Font Folio product line was discontinued some time ago. It's likely distribution rights for those fonts reverted from Adobe over to Monotype. The version of Times Pro available at MyFonts.com has a slightly larger character set.

I'm a little surprised Times LT Std wasn't included in the big collection of type families Monotype recently added to Adobe Fonts.

I doubt if there are any copies of Times LT Std that are legal to download for free from any web sites.

Thanks for the reply Bobby.

Yes the FF was disconinued many years ago, with many of the Std versions of fonts now being retailed as Pro versions with the larger character set and wider language support.

Are you meaning that Times Pro has now taken over from the LT Std version?

My thoughts exactly regarding free versions, certainly for commercail work.

Would you agree it appears to be the case that is simply no longer possible to buy Times LT Std as a font family anymore?

Correct, I don't think it's possible to buy the old Times LT Std family anymore. Those font files date back more than 20 years.

Times Pro would be the appropriate replacement for Times LT Std. They have the same glyph design, which is different in various subtle ways from Times New Roman. I don't know if the spacing/tracking of Times Pro matches that of Times LT Std. It's too bad Times Pro isn't available via Adobe Fonts, otherwise it would be easy/free to see if text reflow is affected by changing text objects from Times LT Std to Times Pro.
