Using Chartwell Bars in Indesign

So I downloaded the Chartwell font, specifically the Bars style. I understand how to use it etc everything is working normally, but what I have issue with is that my chart is only 1-10 so since it goes to 1000 it's basically indistinguishable what the difference is. I need the difference between 5-6 to be like .5 a inch etc. I tried increasing the font size and then stretching it and manipulating it. Then I tried to just type a 00 after every number which was OK, but I want to pull in the info from a data merge. Also I did not like the original style of the chart so I did that think where the chart affects the size of the text box that it is placed in and then making the actual type fill none and the text box the color I want, but I think that is just to many conditions for it to work. So can I some how change how much space each number 1-10 takes up?
