Using non-standard characters from an OpenType set in Microsoft Word

Just trying to get a sense of the state of the art with Microsoft Office products. Does the latest version of Microsoft Word (I have 16.9.1 for macOS) make it reasonably easy to use the small caps character set in my Minion Pro font?
