Why does Acrobat Standard DC create AdobeGC folder in My Documents?

New Here ,
Oct 17, 2016 Oct 17, 2016

Whenever I launch Adobe Acrobat Standard DC, an empty folder called "AdobeGC" appears in C:\Users\Public\Documents. If I delete the folder, it reappears the next time I launch Acrobat. I've never seen any files in this folder. This behavior began recently, but I'm not sure when -- I just noticed within the last month or so. What is this folder for, and how can I tell Acrobat to create it somewhere else? I prefer to keep the My Documents Library reserved for, well, my documents.

Thanks!

PS #1 - My version # is "2015 Release (Classic) Version 2015.006.30243".

PS #2 - Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I couldn't find one that seemed better.

Hi Brian,

AdobeGC folder is created by the process: AdobeGCClient.exe that runs as part of the Adobe Software Integrity Service validation testing, which checks for any tampering with Adobe Software program files or improper or invalid license.

This behaviour is as designed. The folder is used to store a temporary file which is deleted after use.

There is presently no way to change this behaviour.

I have forwarded your feedback to the concerned team and we will work on it in the future releases.

Hi blair151

Please try to run application with Administrator rights.

Right click on Adobe Acrobat Standard DC icon and select "Run as administrator".

Check if you still get this folder.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Thank you for the explanation, Mohd. I have no problem with a process lurking around to make sure my software is licensed, but I just wish it didn't put files in My Documents. Thanks for forwarding my complaint to development or product management or wherever customer suggestions go.

This issue is still happening in Adobe Acrobat Pro as of version 2015.023.20053.

Please fix this as it is very irritating.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5 (version 9.5.5.316) and this just happened to me...a folder titled Adobedc was in my Documents with a file in it by the same name. This has never happened to me before and I haven't even used Acrobat in several weeks. Once I went into my Documents to another folder and then went back out again it disappeared. I understand this file is nothing to be concerened about, but just wanted to note the issue is still happening.

I see that Mohd Amish said it was fixed in version 15...and to update your Acrobat, so I went into Acrobat to look for updates and it says there are none.
