Posting SCORM results to Blackboard Gradebook

New Here ,

Hello,

I've created a SCORM-based quiz in Captivate and posted it to our campus Blackboard system (6.3). The quiz seems to function; however, at the end of the quiz, the Captivate movie stops. I click on the word "Quit" at the top of the screen, and it asks "Are you certain you want to quit?" I click OK, and then it says, "The webpage you are viewing is trying to close the window. Do you want to close the window." I click OK, but then when I look for the grade in the gradebook, all I get is an exclamation point and no indication that I've taken the quiz.

I've tried this with other SCORM quizzes I"ve downloaded (from Chalksoft, for instance). I still get the exclamation point; however, if I click on that, it will show me the final score.

I've tried fiddling with the settings, but am running out of ideas. Are there any folks out there who use SCORM content with their Blackboard system that could give me a hand?

Thank you.

Hi Mary,

Have you had any success resolving this?

I'm also interested in collecting Captivate quiz results and moving them to the Gradebook in Blackboard. I haven't managed to do it either yet.

Let me know. Our institutions might be able to join up to find a solution.

Hey folks,

If you do manage to come up with a solution, would you mind posting your
findings to this forum. It would be great to know how you managed to
solve this integration issue. :-)

Best,
Mark

LATEST
MarySull123,

I know of at least one issue with Blackboard, though I don't know what
version. I believe that an earlier version of Blackboard *might* be
providing a SCORM 2004-like API - but not fully implemented. I've found
that a change was required to hardcode the version to "SCORM 1.2". Here's
what you'll need to do:

- Create your file in Captivate
- Publish the file for SCORM
- Edit the resulting HTM file (the launch file)
- Scroll down to near the bottom of the file and change:

if(g_objAPI != null)
{
strURLParams += (strURLParams==""?"?":"&") + "SCORM_API=" +
g_zAPIVersion + "&SCORM_TYPE=" + g_intAPIType;
}

so that it reads:

if(g_objAPI != null)
{
// AEC: Begin Blackboard hardcoded change
g_zAPIVersion = "0.2";
// AEC: End Blackboard hardcoded change
strURLParams += (strURLParams==""?"?":"&") + "SCORM_API=" +
g_zAPIVersion + "&SCORM_TYPE=" + g_intAPIType;
}

If you contact me off-list, I'll send you an example file to test.

From what I've heard, the latest version of Blackboard is
SCORM-2004-compliant, so this change obviously won't work for that version.

Regards,

Andrew
