Flash Player is installed, content hidden/disappears

First let's get some of the basics out of the way:

  • Flash Player 11.0.1.152
  • Windows 7 SP1
  • IE 9 32 and 64 bit

Flash content on most websites is not appearing. It loads, sometimes I can see a flash of the content before it disappears, and for videos I can interact with it (i.e., start it playing and hear sound but still not see it). The only website I can find that is working for me is YouTube videos. Vimeo videos and flash on the Adobe website are two examples of sites that don't work.

All IE settings have been reset, and I've made sure everything is on the reccomended settings per Adobe help documents and threads (plug-in enabled, active x filtering off, software rendering enabled, hardware acceleration in Flash settings off). Installing and reinstalling does not resolve the issue. Any ideas on what to try next?

I'm following this thread because the same thing is happening on my MacBook Pro, 10.6.8, 64-bit mode, in Safari, Opera, iCab, Firefox, and Camino browsers. None of my browsers will play videos at ABC.com and some other sites, and some browsers will/won't play at other sites like Hulu. I *think* this started when I installed the latest 11.0.1.152.

I found a solution on another forum Adobe flash player works in utube, but not in any other sites click on the link they give on the correct answer or go directly to the site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2528233.  On the webpage click on microsoft fix it to disable hardware acceleration.  I hope it works for you!

Regading Mac Flash, I tried that and it wasn't a fix. I even set my Mac to use better battery life (vs performance), and no fix.
