Does anyone know how to change the font
color, size, etc. in a text box for Acrobat 8?
I've had luck inserting text with the TouchUp Text tool, but prefer to use text boxes. Any help would be appreciated!

Forgive me if i confuse you or myself for that matter.
Did you import the PDF from say word or other? And now you want to change the text on the doc?? OR do you want to change the text and such of a text box?
If you want to change the font, color and so on of a text box you just right click the box and open the properties and make your changes..
I am using acrobat pro x now, its been a bit for me since pro 8 but its a very similar process.
I hope this helps you

I'm trying to create a marketing piece using a current .pdf layout. I insert the text box and type away. When I go to right click and select properties, it only allows me the option to format the border and fill color. No font size, color, etc. are available.

You need to use the same tool you used to create the text box.

I had this same issue and did some searching around through google before I was able to find a solution that worked.
Try the information in the following link, because it worked for me. http://acrobat.timhuff.net/?p=15
In a nutshell, the tip is to use one of the keyboard shortcuts within Acrobat 8 Pro, and in this case that shortcut would be CTRL + E from within the text box.
Hope this helps.
