I work at an advertising company.
We made the annual report for a customer recently and the customers commented on the PDF, explaining which parts of the report they wanted us to edit (text and images).
So yesterday, my boss told me to only change the text edits in InDesign and mark the relevant comments by clicking on the checkboxes and send it to him.
When I came into the office today, he asked me why I didn't mark the comments, which I had in fact done.
They just didn't show up on his mac. We all work with macs, so there's no transfer to another OS.
Now we're searching for the problem, but it seems like nobody ever communicated this on the internet.
It's quite important for the workflow that we can see the checkmarks on all devices. I'm looking forward to your responses.

What application is the other person using to view the file?

Checkmarks are only valid for you on your computer, they are not transferable.
To transmit information in a comment, you must use one of the "Set Status" options.

This requires 3 clicks, while the checkbox right on the comment is just 1 click. Could you make the checkbox on the comment also set the status to 'Completed'? Do other people agree with that? I think to those it would benefit would agree, and those that don't (didn't) use Set status won't mind or notice any difference. I use the checkbox to hide comments from myself that I don't need to do. But I also work on 2 machines and share work.
Or is there a shortcut to setting status?

The filter =doesn't seem to update itself while I'm going through comments either. With a checkbox on the comment and a filter set to only view unchecked, they disappear immediately, which is fantastic. With the Menu, Set status, completed routine, and a filter set to show only Status: None, there is no update to the list. I have to change something in the comments. There is seemingly no 'Live' filtering going on with the Status Option in the filter set to show only Comments with a Status of None. The way it works with the checkbox. But the checkbox is not viewable the way the Status is. Am I making any sense?

*filter* update. I have to change something in the filter to get it to apply.
p.s. notice this document has 726 comments, this is not uncommon for us here. I can't imagine either I am using a uncommon workflow -- click, hide.
