Acrobat DC app font is tiny, to the point of being unusable in Windows 10

Installed the app on a brand new Thinkpad, using Windows 10.  The font in the app for menus and commands is so ridiculously tiny, that I cannot read it even with trifocals.

No, it is NOT my system; this is the only app that is behaving this way, and I installed it this morning.

Where or how do I change the Preferences to increase the size of the menu fonts?

this article explains how to edit the adobe manifest files so they don't scale according to your screen's dpi:

The work around by kglad doesn't work for me. I have Acrobat Pro DC 2022 and can't believe this hasn't been fixed in all this time!!! The main menu font -- File, Edit, View, etc. -- is fine, but the sub-menu (when clicking File, etc.) and the tab heading for the open documents are much smaller and barely readable. Please fix!!!

Here's a screenshot, scaled to close to what I have on my screen. I have win10, v10.0.18363, and acrobat Pro DC 2022.001.20142

Oh and I did try the Edit/Preferences/General/Scale for screen resolution, set to Auto-detect, but now it's the opposite -- the submenu and doc. tab headings are twice the size of the File, Edit, etc.
