Acrobat DC ignores document properties initial view

Engaged ,

I have several pdf forms for which I have saved the document after choosing my preferred initial view settings, but for some of them it seems that Acrobat completely ignores my settings. As an example, for one pdf I have my settings at Page only, single page continuous, fit width, but the pdf opens to 34.6% maginification, resizes the window to fit the document, and continues to open at that magnification if I change the intial view settings to other options, save and re-open the pdf. Is there a reason this is happening, and is there a means to make Acrobat follow my document settings?

Go to Edit (or the Acrobat app menu if you're using a Mac) - Preferences - Page Display and make sure that both Page Layout and Zoom are set to Automatic. Also, in the same dialog, under Accessibility, make sure that the two check-boxes under "Override Page Display" are not ticked, then try it again.

I had all these settings as described and still the settings in "File>Properties>Initial View" were ignored.

Something else helped me: Unchecking

Restore last view settings when reopening documents.

Go to:

View > Preferences...

Select "Documents" from Categories and in the first section "Open Settings" check if the "Restore last view settings when reopening documents." is unchecked.

Hello!

I hope you are doing well, and I am glad to know that the above preferences settings worked for you and fixed the issue. For future reference, you can always set the Viewing Preferences of the PDFs in Acrobat by Edit/Menu (Windows) or Acrobat (Mac) > Preferences > Page Display.

Ensure both Page Layout and Zoom are set to Automatic. Go to the Accessibility category within Preferences and confirm that the options under "Override Page Display" are unchecked.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
