Acrobat DC includes Acrobat X 10.1.1?

I thought this was leftover cruft from a previous installation, but after uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat on my Windows 10 system, I see this:

I don't see this on my Mac, and I don't have another Windows machine with Creative Cloud installed. Can anyone else running Windows comment on whether this is expected? By the way, the three dots menu next to Acrobat X gives me only "View Tutorials," There's no option to manage Acrobat X.

No, it doesn't. My guess is it identified an old version that was (once) installed on your machine.

See if going to TOOLS ----> PREFERENCES ------- > uncheck "Show the Run Action Confirmation dialogue" works for you

Apologies and thank you try67.

I thought Mr. Hoffman was inquiring about something related that I  watched last night in youtube,

It had to do with opening adobe acrobat and then  it would show two options of adobe products to work with;  someone was asking in an old thread how to remove that.

But now that I see the image above Mr. Hoffman , how do you get the view of  "MY APPS & SERVICES" in windows 10 is your windows in tablet mode but any chance?

Because that image that you posted looks more like when you do it from a mobile phone, and I've been trying to see a similar menu in Creative Cloud or my desktop and it does not gets displayed like that.

Never mind... you already said you have a Mac.

What I meant is, did you accessed the Adobe Creative Cloud from a mobile device when you too the screenshot of the image reference above?

No, the image I posted above was a crop of a screen capture from the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App. Full scree shot below.

I used the CC desktop app to completely uninstall Acrobat DC. Then I reinstalled it, and the Acrobat X feature still shows indented under Acrobat DC. As I mentioned, when I look at the CC Desktop App on my Mac, I don't see this at all. I'll find another Windows machine to temporarily install this on and see if I see the same.

The screenshot you posted is the Adobe Creative Cloud app that is installed in your Win10 computer and is a new app.

I didn't recognized the interface in the picture because I never use these apps in my computer or at work. They just run unannounced in the background.

I am going to give you some pointers but these are my personal notes on how to approach the issue; in no way it represents training or a background obtained through Adobe, Microsot certifications. Much less it compares to the help and service you could (and should) obtain from calling the 800 number.

So, here we go:

On one side you have a perfectly working computer, and on the other side of the mirror, It seems like in the past you had a paid subscription of Acrobat 10 with an older version of Windows.

1. With the Adobe Cloud app check if it is notifying you of doing an updates. In any case I've read recently that there are three ways of performing an uninstall of creative cloud apps; you already tried using the desktop app and you mentioned the Adobe X still shows.

2. Since you don't have an option to uninstall Acrobat X when you click on the three dots, see if, while online, opening Adobe DC or any installing any new  app listed there, followed by logging out immediately , and then followed by signing back in takes care of this issue.

You can access Creative Cloud itself on the web here:

If non of that worked , download the standalone version of  Adobe X, install it in your desktop and uninstall using Windows  followed by a reboot of your PC.

In addition, here is a link to uninstall the Creative Cloud App itself, just in case you need to do that in further troubleshooting :

On a side note, I would also check in your windows control panel; go to settings and in "uninstall programs/features"  see if that version of Acrobat X is still installed in that system. If it is, remove it.

Lastly, but nonetheless,  I am not fully convinced if by going to the registry would help... but what the heck... if you read this far lets go and also try and check the following key:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\AdobeAcrobat\10.0\FeatureLockDown

Make sure that  the D_Word value has a "0" not a "1".

Hi Michael,

Apologies for the late reply, I hope you were able to fix it by now. As you have two icons in CC Desktop App one for Acrobat DC and another for Acrobat X, I believe that the Acrobat X was not completely removed from your system and some files are still present that is causing the issue.

  • Once done with the cleaning, reboot the system and check.

Hi Amal,

I uninstalled Acrobat DC using the CC Desktop app, then I closed the CC Desktop app and all other nonessential apps on my system. Then, I ran the Acrobat Cleaner Tool, and rebooted the system.

Now, when I open the CC Desktop app, instead of "Install" for Acrobat, it shows "Update." The CC Desktop app thinks I still have an older version of Acrobat installed, apparently. I think that before I reinstall Acrobat (or "update" as it seems to indicate) I will also try uninstalling the CC Desktop app and reinstalling. I hope I can do this while leaving all my other CC apps installed...

P.S. There is no "uninstall" anymore for Acrobat DC. If I click the down arrow next to "Update," it has only "Learn More" and "View tutorials."

As an update, I can't uninstall the CC Desktop app without uninstalling all my other Adobe CC apps - which I don't want to do, because I'll lose Encore CS6...

When I tried to uninstall the app, it gave me the option to Repair, so I tried that. Then I reinstalled (or as the app says "Updated") Acrobat. Version 10 is still there. It's even more amazing when you consider I encountered this during the update process: Even with "Remove old versions" checked, it doesn't.

And that is exactly what I’ve been doing up to now. Someday I’ll suck it up with Encore and switch to something else; then I’ll try a full uninstall of all Adobe apps, run the CC Cleaner script, and that should hopefully eradicate it.
