Acrobat DC — window background color

I've just installed DC and the new interface looks great, but I would like to be able to change the window background colour from white without having to go to fullscreen mode. It's grey in other versions of Acrobat.

At the moment, it's very hard to see what the page size is when it's a white page on a white background.

Forced to upgrade from Acrobat X last night. Have been working in it for 5 minutes today and my eyes are blown out. This is pretty terrible that we cannot choose a darker theme like other Adobe CC products. We need another option.

I've installed the most recent update today.  I agree the white background is very hard on the eyes...is it that difficult for Adobe to make this change?

Hi Josh, All,

Acrobat DC update released today (10th May, 2016) introduces a new darker theme. Please open Acrobat DC application and go to Help > Check for updates to apply the latest update (2015.016.20039).

Next, go to View > Display Theme > Dark Gray and restart Acrobat.

Hi. I am still missing the Display Theme the option in my View menu. I have Acrobat Pro DC and the version number is listed as 15.006.30172. When I check for updates, it says I have the current version. Please update Pro DC as well, thanks!

Hi Eileen - the dark theme is available only in subscription version of Acrobat DC as of now.

Just a toy program now. Have to use old Acrobat 8 to do anything critical. Most of these software writers don't have real world experience, but the pay is great.

ADOBE FINALLY MADE IT HAPPEN! They made a dark theme! Update Acrobat DC to version 2015.016.20039 and go to

View > Display Theme > Dark Grey

The dark grey theme is what I prefer and is mostly good, but it makes the rulers - which I use a lot - practically unusable. It would be best if they stayed white with black hatch marks.

I agree that the rulers are hard to see now but I think it would be best if they made them just like the rulers in Photoshop: Dark grey background with light grey marks and numbers. Like this:
