Acrobat interface failures with zoom

Adobe is a large reason for UI/UX becoming a real thing.   Which then pains me to no end each time I see an Acrobat version update fail harder then previous to offer a zoom tool with any usefulness.

Today, the icon of a magnifying glass at the top of the application in Acrobat is now a dual use tool for a.) finding text within your random documents, and b.) a search field for searching for otherwise impossible to find application tools.

So not only have you failed to provide an application interface with easy to select tools for the many jobs the application does help with, but you have taken that problem and compounded it against ruining another one.  The Missing Zoom tool.

There is no end to pdf documents that we need to zoom into the details of.  Can application programmers understand that?   Can you understand this isn't just about standard letter sized documents?   Can you show some foresight into how exactly we are supposed to see the details of a 40 inch sheet without a zoom tool that allows us to pick a spot to zoom into?

Right now, at the bottom right of the newest acrobat version there is two other magnifying glass icons. One with a plus and one with a minus. Hooray, it's not hiding anymore at least.  But sadly, they are useless for anything but randomly zooming into any old place it decides to zoom into.  They aren't tools you can command with your mouse curser.  All you can do is choose plus or minus.  Then you might say, grab the space bar "hand" tool and move your view around!   I would, but it now seems to take 4 snaps or more of the spacebar to get that hand icon and tool to engage.  Apparently the application thinks it is certain that if I'm zooming in that I must want to type letters and create spaces with my spacebar.  We have to triple tap or more on that spacebar shortcut to now get the hand icon to appear.   Then, the tedious task of swiping endlessly to get over to the far side of the document to the location I wanted to be zoomed into on the 40 inch sheet.   Have I told you yet today how much I appreciate knowing Adobe as a company is probably loaded with UI/UX designers?

Please offer a tool that allows us to direct a location to zoom into quickly.  Look at how your company did it for Adobe Illustrator for example if you have no others.  Maybe buy one of their programmers lunch and ask them how.

Hi All!

Hope you are doing well.

We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change; however, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you can be more productive and get more out of Acrobat.

We are actively working on unavailable features, such as All page display, navigation & zoom tools, 2-page view, 2 pages with scrolling, marquee & dynamic zoom, etc., from the bottom right menu. And we will address them with the highest priority.

A point to note is that as

Please excuse my inability this morning to name the missing tool correctly.   It is Marque Zoom, arguably the most important zoom tool there is.

Once upon a time you could at least traverse the View menu to Show/Hide  and then choose to edit tool menus by showing or hiding specific tools.  In the list in prior years would also be a Marque Zoom option.   That no longer exists under even the view/show-hide.   So, now once again the Marque Zoom is a buried option.  You can still find it under View/Zoom to select Marquee Zoom i guess.   I'll have to live with that I guess.

Hi All!

A point to note is that as we made these changes in the interface, we have ensured all tools & features that are currently supported retain their familiar functionalities and workflows as they did in the previous version. We proactively address any gaps or issues users report regarding any break in current workflows.

If your critical workflows are impacted, you can switch to the old UI from the “Menu” on the top left corner of Windows OS and View Menu on MacOS. We will follow up with a detailed community-featured post, guiding you to familiarise yourself with the new interface and regular updates on upcoming changes.

We will follow up on this response with a detailed article explaining the changes, a guide to help familiarise you with the new interface, and regular updates on upcoming changes.

Thank you once again for your feedback, and do look forward to our upcoming releases!

The updates are a complete fail! I waste so much time, when the zoom tool works and sometimes doesn't IT's the number one feature needed in acrobat, and it's now broken. No getting used to broken and failed. Please change it back, or fix it. IT IS BROKEN. #FAILEDADOBEACROBAT
