Acrobat Prof 8 licence swap to DC Pro License?

New Here ,
May 04, 2017 May 04, 2017

Some time ago I purchased a license for Acrobat Professional 8.  I tried the to use the license to activate Adobe DC Pro.  Chat support told me is for WinXP.  I am now using Win7-64.  I purchased the product under the auspices that I could use it in perpetuum.  Is there any way to get a new Serial Number so I can use Acrobat DC Pro?

There are two issues here.

The first is that of Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows 7 x64. Although not originally designed for Windows 7 or for that matter any 64-bit version of Windows (there are components that are specific to the driver system of 32-bit versions of Windows and versions of Windows prior to Windows Vista), some Adobe users have been successful in installing, activating, and running Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows 7 x64 assuming that after installing Acrobat 8 Pro (which will install with some errors), you immediately apply the update to Acrobat 8.1! You did not indicate whether you even tried activating Acrobat 8 Pro. If you did try and didn't succeed, what error / message did  you receive?

The second issue is that a perpetual license for a software product generally means that the software may be expected to run on the hardware and with the operating system environment available during the time in which the software version was current. Acrobat 8 was released in November 2006, over 10 years ago, when Windows XP was the current operating system and when Windows Vista was in preparation for release. A free update was provided for Vista support. But the perpetual license does not mean that the software vendor is going to provide free updates forever to provide support for new hardware and operating systems. If you want or need Acrobat Pro DC, you will need to either buy a new perpetual license for this version or subscribe to the software with a monthly payment. The subscription license includes automatic and no further charge updates to the latest version of the software as long as you subscribe.

not unless you buy acrobat dc.

you can continue to use acrobat pro 8, though you may have some problems because win 7 isn't compatible with acrobat 8.  ntl, you should be able to install and activate and regain some functionality.

I have had Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 for years.  It installed fine on my 64 bit Windows Vista Toshiba
Satellite. No problems.  I upgraded to 7 and then to 10.  10 crashed the other day and would not reload.  Thought it was the HD but when I tried 7 it loaded up fine.  Only problem the free 10 upgrade is over I think and I lost all my programs and Im having to reload.  My Adobe 8 Professional will not load.. says my serial number is invalid.  It's not invalid. It is correct.  Then I saw this discussion and see 8 was never meant for a 64 bit machine.  Are any discounts available for upgrading to a new version for 64 bit

No, far too late for discounts. Only 10 and 11 are eligible.

I've had this software for a long time as well and have had no problem with it until now. It would not download a new e-license and keeps closing after it fails to download the new e-license.  I had an old hard drive that I swapped after my drive failed, everything else works flawlessly except this. I don't I believe that I should be purchasing a version because Adobe changed the e-licensing protocols. I'm actually connected to the internet, so don't understand that caption at the top left.
