Acrobat Reader DC always opens full screen, no setting to change this

Community Beginner ,

I'm currently running Acrobat Reader DC version 2017.012.20093, and no matter what, it always opens maximized, taking up my entire screen. The only setting I've been able to find to change this is in Preferences>Documents>Restore last view settings when reopening documents. But this only works for a document I open, restore down, then re-open. Every other pdf I open for the first time is always maximized.

I open hundreds of new pdfs per day at work, so this is a ridiculous hassle. Nothing else seems to have anything to do with this bug/setting, and this only just started happening this week as far as I can remember. August 4th 2017 and back it didn't seem to happen.

I'm going to have to find another pdf viewer because this bug/feature absolutely kills the program for me.

This has been driving me mad as well since it started happening. However I can confirm that the Latest Update has fixed the problem. Well done Adobe.

Yup, the update worked for me (Acrobat DC (17.012.20095), Win10/creators).

No more fully maximized files at opening, regardless of file deliberate or default setting.

I don't believe this was an OS setting, it was an Adobe "feature" fixed by the last update. It worked.

How do you fix this issue on a Mac?  It says there no updates available and I am running Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2018.009.20050  Is there a setting I need to change?

This is useless - I open your web link and there are numerous downloads - which one?

All I want to do - when I open a PDF document - it takes up my entire computer screen.  I can find ANYTHING to:

show me how I can reduce the size of the document in relation to my computer screen (so that I can see my screen as well as the document -

AND/OR gets rid of the borders the surround my document - all I have been able to figure out is that I can make the border grey or black - I don't want a border - period - just the end of the document.

show me how to get rid of the tools (?) menu that shows up on the right side of the screen

Wow, I just downloaded Acrobat reader to a brand new computer in 2020 and this STILL happened!  I found this train trying to fix it.  Like the previous users, this renders Acrobat almost useless....

I am experiencing this issue as well.  I have checked for updates and get the message, "No updates available Installed: Adobe Acrobat XI Standard (11.0.23).  Any chance there's a fix for this version?

LATEST

Same issue Windows 10 and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2020.006.20034.

Simple solution for me (corporate environment with limited change scope) is to use windows explorer and reset the default application used to open PDF.

Now using the Edge browser as my reader.
