Acrobat X Standard from Dell (download)

Explorer ,
Sep 10, 2012 Sep 10, 2012

I have a 3 month old Dell XPS 15 running win7 64 bit Home Premium. At time of purchase I had the option of having Acrobat X (& Distiller) pre installed. Now when purchasing this is £20 but when i purchased my XPS it was on offer for a limited period for free. I duly ticked the box. The system arrived but came damaged so was returned and replaced immediately.

The system came with the adobe software installed ok but i had some error messages when trying to update so decided to reinstall hence needed reinstallation media or a download.

I have since fixed the update but still want the installer in case of future problems. I have searched the forum and read other posts here:

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/823236 and http://forums.adobe.com/message/4661222#4661222 and http://forums.adobe.com/message/4451504#4451504

Dell failed to include any licence number with my replacement system nor any reinstallation media. I registered the software with my adobe ID and in my products it shows the licence number which i have saved. Does Acrobat include Distiller as I was unable to register it and get any licence number?

I have had to contact Dell many times as my service tag was not recognised on their system. After 2 months they fixed that but they still are unable to fix my service tag being recognised in their My Dell downloads section to download my software (which i hope would be the location of the acrobat x software.)

To make matters worse there is no where on the Adobe site to download the installation and Dell have no record  of my system with Adobe acrobat X standard.

Please can someone provide a link to download this? As i said I have my licence already but no way of re installing.

Also if i contact Adobe support with my licence can they confirm that this licence is a Dell OEM licence so that i can show this as proof to dell that they supplied with the software so can provide me with some form of reinstallation.

Thanks but no it doesn't have this, none of the dells i've had over the past 6 years have had. They do have  dell datasafe to enable a multi dvd recovery discs & a recovery partition with image based recovery. Mine is already repartitioned but i had already checked the hidden recovery partition.

But I did find find a solution for those that still have the software installed. If people want to reformat and reinstall windows they can find their installation here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Setup Files. I have a folder in there "{AC76BA86-1033-F400-BA7E-000000000005}", in there are the installation files for Acrobat X Standard v10.0. This is not a trial and will require a licence key.

As this not on the Adobe site for some reason and many have problems with the Dell site i will upload it and post a link here. If the adobe staff have issue with this they can remove the link. But there are many people who have this legitimately as paid for as part of their PC purchase and were not correctly supplied with any form of installation media, like me.

Here is the install for Acrobat X standard. The RAR password is acrobatix & you will need winrar or other suitable software to extract the folder from the archive. Winrar can be downloaded from here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm To install run setup.exe in the folder.

The file is not shared anywhere else and is not a trial so needs a legitimate licence for acrobat x standard version. (If staff find this inappropriate please remove the link, but it would be more useful to have the install available on the adobe site itself.) The install may be specific to dell PC's, I don't know.

After installation of version 10.0 the update to version 10.1.4 can be found here:

If you have got the serial number for Acrobat X then all you need is a package to install it in future just in case you need to perform a clean install of the operating system

I have successfully used the trial versions for this purpose and the serial numbers have always worked for me on these trial versions.  The trial versions are available from Adobe Website and they are complete in all respect and they accept any valid serial numbers which you claim you have already got.

One thing I find amazing is that DELL sent you a system with Acrobat X pre-installed.  Normally they send you with a READER no full acrobat X;  I buy my systems from DELL (In UK) so my facts are correct for UK users.  Perhaps they have different sales pitch for your country.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply but as far as i am aware there is no trial version hence my post. The only links available are for a trial of the Pro version and an update for the standard version. If you say there is a trial version of the standard version available please post the link here.

I am in the UK and my system was purchased direct fron the Dell site. As I originally posted when configuring my system online i had the opportunity to select a pre install of AcrobatX for £0.00 so I selected that. Previously they had charged for these versions, and now in the new version of the XPS15 they offer this for £20.40, so I guess this was a limited offer on the model I bought then.

xps15 dell.JPG

They negated to supply a licence number or disc and as I said the service tag is not recognised in My Dell Downloads. A few weeks earlier I got an XPS 17 from them and that is recognised in My dell downloads. According to other dell users posting here that is where the software can be obtained, but at present Dell are denying any knowledge of the software on my system and say they cannot guarantee that it will work with the my Dell downloads section of their site. Do they thik that it magically appeared on my system. The techncian in one sentence told me that it would be in the My dell downloads then in the next said it wouldn't. I have to say they are a shambles and I may again end up having togo down the legal route to get it sorted. Sigh.

The picture you have posted is Acrobat Professional and it is the same as the one most people have here whether it is on a CD or "digitally supplied"  The trial versions are digitally supplied and your serial number should work.

If you have lost the serial number then this would be tricky because Adobe don't have a record of serial numbers and list of customers UNLESS, of course, you have registered with them and supplied this info.  If so then it is a question of logging in to your account and seeing what is in there.

I don't know how else can you get the serial number without using some tools which can retrieve the numbers.  I doubt if Belarc Advisor can retrieve Adobe numbers.  They can retrieve Microsoft numbers but not Adobe numbers.

Please could you read my posts before replying. As I already explained the picture is just an example of what is offered for the new XPS 15 with the 3rd generation of new intel processors, the previous XPS15 had the 2nd gen. When I purchased mine i had a similar tickbox, the only difference is it indicated it was free on offer. It also as above in the photo gave no indication as to what version it was (std or pro).

In fact as i have already explained it was the STANDARD and not the Pro version & I have the serial number even though Dell forgot to supply it. Once I registerd the software it was visible to me on the adobe site. But I do NOT have the installation file which is NOT on the adobe site as far as I am aware. Dell often supply the standard version not the pro as many others on the forum here have posted on other topics.

So please if you have the link for the download of ACROBAT X STANDARD then please can you post it for me,

There is no standard version that I am aware of.  All I know is that Adobe have Acrobat Professional and Suite.  The suite includes Photoshop and all that but that is not something you will be interested in or that I know of because I haven't bought this.

The pro version is available online.  THERE IS NO STANDARD VERSION THAT I AM AWARE OF.

You will have to wait for Adobe staff to reply.  I am just a volunteer like other people and we try our best to help from our own experience but invariably we get things wrong.  If I have got anything wrong here then please pardon me and let's move on.

End of!!!

Thank you both for your replies here is a link for the update file for both Pro and Standard files.

Adobe Acrobat 10.1.4 Pro and Standard update - All language

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5444

Here is a pic of part of my splash screen opening acrobat X standard

AX.JPG

And in this thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/823236 "Hotspotcomputing" explains his similar issue in quite comical fashion of being unable to get a download of the standard version. So why 18 months later have adobe failed to resolve this and offer a download of the standard version for poor souls like myself left shafted by dell, unable for some reason known only to dell to access their my download site.

If anyone has this can they please upload it somewhere for me?

Thanks for posting this but as I have said, I am not aware of direct download link for the Standard version.  You have to wait for Adobe staff to help you.

For most digital downloads people normally get extended download permission but it looks like you didn't get any and as I understand it, DELL are not helping you.  Have you tried their forums if anybody else there know anything about it?

Good luck.

Thanks yes i am just exploring their forums now, (dell have been trying to fix this for 3 months). There seem to be others in the same boat unresolved for a long time. Some sent a CD case with licence without a disc. If they cannot fix the my dell downloads or they do and the software is not on there i need to prove to dell i have the software as it doesn't appear on any invoices or documents that i'm aware of so i wondered if adobe support could tell fro my licence number if it is one that came from Dell. If they can confirm such it is proof to dell and i think they will agree to supply a disc or download.

You might check your DELL system. A lot of newer systems ship with all the software located on the machine. They typically have a backup that allows you to write the files to CD or DVD, the reason they did not supply them. It has been a while since I have gone through this process, but it might be that you can find the stuff on your drive.

Hello Lucids, thank you very much!

I have received my PC back from the Dell tech lab, with a new clean install of Windows 7 on it. They forgot to add the preinstalled software ..... (And yes everything at the disc was wiped included the recovery)

Getting Office2010 was easy enough. ADOBE & Dell people check out: office.com/downloadoffice and learn!

https://smartsource.dell.com/Web/Welcome.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fweb%2fUserForms%2fRegisterSystem.aspx

Claims to do the trick, but it did not work for me.

Up until I found your post I was stuck in bureaucracy, and not getting the software I had paid for. Now Adobe is back. Thanks Lucids!

Your very welcome. After originally getting no joy on the phone with Dell I contacted staff via their forum. They were much better and acknowledged that I had acrobat x std. They duly sent me my licence and a disc. The chap on the phone had said that that no such disc exists. Obviously lying through his teeth. The rule here is don't believe a word these guys say on the phone. I can confirm that the files i the above download are identical to what's on the adobe disc.

Lucids,

I have the same problem with Dell, I have the license but no download link.  I did try the cdn.anonfiles.com link, but only 97% of the file downloaded, so when I went to install it would get partway through and give me an error about a missing file being corrupt or password incorrect.  Any ideas?

Thank you!

Hi Matt if you didn't download all the file, 97% you said, how on earth could you extract and try to install it? that would be impossibe.

Please people there is nothing wrong with the file. I just downloaded it again and tested it. It is perfect. If you cannot download it all you have a problem with your internet or your own computer as the file is 100% perfect, and it all downloads completely and also very fast. The RAR is 319MB size. If you have that issue with your internet just try again. If you can't do it get a friend to help, maybe try use their internet connection. Anon files max download speed seems to be about 10 or 11 megabits per second. I get 65 megabits per second download from my provider and the file takes about 4 and a half minutes to download.

You must have winrar installed before trying to extract it. Please install the latest version from RARlabs. If you have an old version of winrar please update it as sometimes older versions cannot extract files compressed with a newer version of winrar. Don't use winzip.

You must extract the contents of the rar file. That means right clicking on the rar file and selecting extract here, then entering the password at the prompt. Do not open the rar file and when you see the contents try to run the setup from in there, inside the opened rar. Doing that and then you will have a corrupt install. If that is what has happened, that is a basic computer error so please get someone to help who knows what to do and how to install a program on a PC.

There is nothing more i can do i have uploaded the file which is tested and is fine and explained the instructions several times. If you're still having issues please get someone technical who understands computers to help you.

Lucids,

Thank you so much.  I did select open instead of save as when downloading yesterday.  Trying to extract from the open file was the problem.  Works perfectly now.

Thank you again, it was exactly what I needed.

Matt

By  the way you could contact dell via posting in their their support  forum. The staff there are excellent. They will if needed send you a  disc with a licence for acrobat, and any other software that would be  available from the "My Dell Downloads" that you cannot access.

If  you still have acrobat standard installed on your system you can find  the installation files that  i uploaded still on your system here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Setup Files. Look for a folder in there called (or something similar) :
{AC76BA86-1033-F400-BA7E-000000000005},

Wthin  there are the installation files for Acrobat X Standard v10.0. This is  not a trial and will require your licence key. Remember that there are several updates to do after the installation

The uploaded file was perfectly fine before and had been tested  but I just re downloaded it again as a test and encountered the same  issue you had so I redownloaded the file again and had the problem  again. All I can assume is that there is an issue with the download  site, that has corrupted the upload.

I have uploaded the file again, here is the link to download:

https://anonfiles.com/file/16342df8a5c1c54082a0aa4aafadb26c

The  file downloaded is a ZIP file. (323MB). When you get the file right  click and select EXTRACT HERE, This will extract an exectuable file (exe). You can  run that and it will extract the installation folder wherever you like. I  used winrar to make it a self extractor so you didn't need to have  winrar installed on your computer. Remember to extract the exe from the zip first and not run it from within an open winzip folder. The password for the exe file  (Acrobat X STD.exe) is the same as before:
acrobatix

I downloaded and tested the file and it is ok with no corruption.
