I have had a copy of Acrobat X for a coupl eo fyears now and used it a little - basically to convert something into a pdf. Now I find I have a great need for creating forms in X. Are all the support files and tutorials taken down by Adobe as the relase each new version or.... they hidden where a mere mortal such as myself cannot find them. I'm old school - I am not wild about the new subscription model. I like to buy my software  and that's that.

Thanks for any input and guidance!

John

Hi John,

Sometimes you just have to go to the search gods to get what you need/want. Using the search phrase "how to create forms in acrobat x" I came up with many many many results. Here are a few off the top. BTW, the easiest way I've found to create forms is from InDesign, but that would require a subscription to InDesign. But, there's nothing stopping you from doing in Acrobat X and there is a plentiful amount of instruction online.

Good luck!

Just FYI: You can still get Acrobat as a "perpetual license", without a subscription.

The current version for that is called Acrobat 2020, available here:

Unfortunately, Adobe no longer sells perpetual copies of Acrobat Pro. While you may see offers for it at various places across the web, most of those are out-of-date pages. They all point to a page like this: https://commerce.adobe.com/store/segmentation?cli=adobe_com&co=US&ctx=fp&lang=en&ms=COM&ot=BASE&pa=a...

For what it's worth, if you are working with Acrobat X, AT BEST there might be a discount of some kind for you to upgrade, but since you cannot get a perpetual license, it's a moot point.

However, at some point, you will update your OS and/or your computer and Acrobat X will stop working in an OS or computer it was not designed to be used. And at that point, you will either have to update to a subscription plan or see if any of the competing PDF programs is right for you.

Sorry, but that's something we all have to face at some point.

Please provide a link to a page that offers this. I spent some time looking for such a page and could not find one. I'll be glad to be wrong here, but show me where this is.

By the way, it is far too late to get Acrobat 2020 at a discount from Acrobat X. The time has passed for reduced price upgrades from Acrobat 10, Acrobat 11 and Acrobat 2015.

I'd recommend a subscription. Windows and MacOS are changing fast and breaking older versions one way or another.

It does appear the most recent version you CAN get for a

perpetual license is 2 years old. That's why I assumed you cannot get it. That's why I assumed that it was no longer available.

That's not quite accurate, either. This version has been updated multiple times since then. Not as frequently as Acrobat DC, but it's not a 2-year old version...
