Hi Jeff,
No such luck with this idea. BUT, We id find that the issue is indeed related to activation. [One of my engineers narrowed it down] So we tried a clean install on a newly reformatted hard drive and so far no issues. [I suspect one of my people had something on their machine they shouldn't have as in bootleg software] Can't prove it yet but will keep you posted. 5 days running fine so far.

Hi I am using this software on an old dell machine, install looked good, worked fine for a few days, and then the suddent quits, usually within 20 seconds of opening. Is there any resolution of this issue? It looks like it has been open for some time.

Thanks,

ZF

I have a Dell Laptop running XP and have Acrobat 8 with a number of licenses installed as part of a network installation of Acrobat 8 Pro, and I seem to be getting messages that the Organizer database is damaged, however I do not seem to be seeing Actobat 8.0 Pro close automatically.

Mark,
Since you have CS2 on the laptop, did you uninstall A7 previously? Or did you let the A8 installer uninstall for you? I am seeing previous versions of either A7 or CS2 products on most of the systems reporting this issue.

I was certainly nervous to install Acrobat 8 on my computer after reading this post. However, I haven't experienced any problems since I installed it.

I have PhotoShop CS2 as well as Adobe Macromedia 8 on Windows XP.

I had the same problem every time I closed a PDF file...

If you have no need for the organizer, you can solve this problem by selecting Preferences under the Edit menu; under Categories, select Documents; and where it says "Remember files in Organizer History for:", select "Don't remember PDF's".

My organizer database was damaged and I was able to fix it following Jeff Moran's Dec 12 10:23am suggestion.

I have a freshly installed Acrobat 8 Pro (activated, registered and updated) running on Win XP Pro 32 bit, dual core PC. Luckily, my A8 was not closing automatically as others are complaining here, but every time I closed the program I got a message: "The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched". So I deleted all the files in the "organizer70" sub-folder, relaunched A8 and the organizer70 sub-folder immediately repopulated itself with new files and, apparently, fixed itself. I have been having no problems since.

NOTE: It didn't work at first for me because I was deleting the wrong organizer70 folder, I was deleting the organizer70 files for "All Users". Once I deleted the organizer70 files under my username/Administrator, everything worked like a charm.

The suggestion to delete the "organizer70" folder files works perfectly. Just go into Documents & Settings and find that folder under your user name. Delete the files in that folder and relaunch Arcobat. It worked like a charm for me. TheBeagle

I have used 8.0 for several weeks and did not encounter any problem...until today. I felt frustrated. I formatted my harddisk and re-installed my Windows XP. BUT IT STILL CLASHED WITHIN 10 SECONDS! What a ridiculous software.....

hey guys

I googled my problem and found this message board. Good ol' Goggle, haha. Anyways, I'm basically having the same problem. I installed Acrobat 8 Pro a little less than a month ago and it was trouble free until today. I opened some PDF's and it automatically shut down after about 10-15seconds. I "repaired" the installation, but to no avail.

Any solutions, yet? I have midterms coming up and my notes are all PDF's ><"

My specs:

Toshiba Satellite A100-SK9 Notebook
Intel Duo Core 2.0ghz
1024mb RAM

Win. XP Home Edition (should be updated to the latest version)

Thanks in advance!

-Calvin

Hi All,

I have also the same problem and tried the above mentioned solutions but none of them works correctly.

During to trying to fix this problem I noticed the following error log message under docs&settings:

070226 13:40:31 [Warning] Can't open and lock time zone table: Table 'mysql.time_zone_leap_second' doesn't exist trying to live without them

Is there any relationship between the problem and this log?
It seems it has. I am not an expert but hopefully somebody can take a look at on this...

Thanks for any suggestion in advance!

Sandor

Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro appears to not be on my laptop, so it appears that it gets removed when Acrobat 8 Pro installs.

Based on a response and suggestion from another Forum member, I tried reinstalling Acrobat 8 Pro, got the problems again that I seem to be getting messages that the Organizer database is damaged, and then I tried deleting all the files in the following folder with my name:

\Documents and Settings\[my first.last name]\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat \8.0\organizer70

and for now everything seems fixed.

i have tried the fix above but to no avail.

everytime my acrobat pro 8 closes it builds an error log. the log says
"070126 21:56:46 [Warning] Can't open and lock time zone table: Table 'mysql.time_zone_leap_second' doesn't exist trying to live without them"

to test wether this was the problem i deleted my libmysqld.dll file and now it still keeps closing after 10 seconds or so but this time i get an error message.

I think the bug has something to do with this.

Any thoughts?

Well, guess what...today my 8.0 Pro started shutting down after working fine for 6-weeks. I tried deleting the organizer files...nope, that didn't fix the problem. I guess I'll try what everyone else has done...with very limited success, and hope I am one of the exceptions. It sure would be nice if a fix came out so all us law abiding consumers won't be running adobe's name into the mud!

It is really astonishing that first the software was ever released with this unusual feature in it and secondly that no fix has been provided. How long should we wait before something is done about it?
