Hi!
When I read PDFs in foreign languages (Spanish and French, primarily), I often encounter words that I don't recognize. When this happens, I have to look up the translation in a third-party English-to-French or English-to-Spanish dictionary.
Is there a way to add an English-to-foreign-language dictionary to Adobe Acrobat so that I can look up translations of individual words in-app? Please note that I do not wish to translate entire documents, just words.
Many thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to provide.
Best,
–M
I am not sure the software (desktop version) is clever enough to detect automatically which language the highlighted word belongs to. Seperate language dictionaries need to be installed with Acrobat.
Is that the same issue if you open the documnt in a web browser?
it is a good suggestion to add to https://acrobat.uservoice.com

Yes, sadly I don't think this feature is available. In regard to the issue you have highlighted, were it to become available on the desktop app, I think it would be necessary to set the language of the text, much like when one uses the OCR tool. In a perfect world, there would be a way to access the language dictionaries available on WordReference.com, which is an incredible resource, in-app.
