Add Text is not working

New Here ,
Jun 24, 2024 Jun 24, 2024

I am currently running Adobe Acrobat Pro Version 2024.002.20857 64-bit.  Just a couple days ago, the "Add Text" doesn't work correctly.  It either acts as an "Edit Text" or it will move the other charactors and words around the document in a random fashion or it will layer the letters on top of each other.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat 3 times hoping to get rid of this issue.  I also followed the advice about renaming the "Preferences" folder.  And I haven't found anything else on this forum.  I still am unable to add text to an existing document.  I use the paid version of Adobe so this problem is quit frustrating.

Try to revert to the Classic UI: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/acrobat-2023-how-to-revert-to-classic-gui-user-in...
Consider the "new Acrobat" as a beta version, many features are still missing or half-implemented.

Hi @Karma38200370k55n

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

As you have the most recent version of the application please try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau... and check

Let us know how it goes.

This is the correct answer. I'm guessing that Adobe rushed the new version out because they wanted a bunch of AI features.

I see the OP is on the standalone 2024 version.

While I prefer the "classic" interface, my Acrobat 2025 adds text without problem in the new interface. I tested both my Mac and Windows versions.

Is this a known bug in the 2024 verson?
