Since the most recent InDesign update, the exact same table I have been using and exporting-to-PDF successfully with correct tag structure for over 20 documents is now refusing to tag correctly?
When I go into the reading order panel to try and remediate, select a cell, open the table editor, go into cell properties, and try to manually update the cell as a header cell, the structure type is not changing to "TH" even after I hit "Ok."
(in this screenshot, you can see the blue selection boxes around all of the dark-grey-shaded header cells, the selected type, and the incorrect structure type still showing instead of updating to TH.)
When I try to click into the cell properties for one of the header cells after telling the program it is a Header Cell and selecting "Ok," the cell properties menu is saying it is a column-scope Data Cell??
When I look in the content panel, it is reflecting the heading containers as "TH"
but the tags panel is showing "TD" with the visual symbol of a TH tag?
When I go into the properties of one of the header tags that should be showing as TH, it says the type is "Table Header Cell," but the label is still showing "TD." I cannot manually type and change to "TH."
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Once again, this is the exact same table I have been using and exporting for 6 months with absolutely no problems, but now the reading order/table editor panel will not properly tag my header cells. Is anyone else having issues with table header tagging since the last update?
(P.S.: I am aware that tables are not ideal for accessibility and that there have been known issues in the past with adobe tagging and tables. I do not have the ability or authority to elect to not include tables in these docs; the govt. board/agency with the authority over these rules wants the table in these docs. Thank you!!)

(Update: I reverted InDesign to a previous update and tried exporting again and am having the same problem, so I am wondering if it is a bug from the newest Acrobat update? Working with IT to revert my Adobe to a previous version to see if that un-breaks the table editor functionality)

I patched to an old version of Acrobat and was still having the same issue.
I turned off "Enable cloud-based auto-tagging for accessibility" and am no longer experiencing this bug. Hopefully this issue gets noticed and resolved by devs.

I'm having the same issues. I've tried updating the TD tags to TH with the reading order, content panel, and through the accessibility tags. The tags display the table header icon with a red header cell, but are still labeled as <TD>.

Yes! That is exactly it, and no matter what I try, the program will not let me manually adjust the tag to reflect table header correctly.
Disabling the cloud-based auto-tagging is a good temporary solution, as this bug doesn't seem to affect the non-cloud autotagging functionality, but it definitely makes more manual reading order/list retagging work for other parts of my docs. Really hoping the devs get on this soon.

I am currently experiencing the same issue. TD will not update TH even after following these steps from Whttps://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20-TECHS/PDF20.html

I am running into the same problem. Using the same processes as before, but it no longer works no matter which way I try to go in and fix it. It is clearly an Adobe issue that they need to fix!

Hi all,
Thank you for sharing these details with us. I really understand how frustrating it can be when your table headers keep reverting back despite your efforts. Accessibility tagging is so important for compliance, and I know how important this is.
We’ve reported this issue to our engineering team so they can investigate further. However, we haven't been able to replicate the problem in our tests, which makes your detailed description even more helpful.
If you can, please share a sample PDF file where you’re experiencing this issue. It would really help our engineers pinpoint what might be going wrong. In case we need further information, we may request an online meeting to diagnose at your end.
While I can’t promise a quick fix just yet, please know we've logged this problem and are actively working on it. Your patience and support mean a lot to us as we work to improve Acrobat.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.
Best regards,
