I've seen this post come up before, but none of the marked solutions worked in my case. I click on a .pdf or even try opening Adobe Acrobat DC, nothing happens. No error message. No file. Nothing. I checked the forums and this seems to come up a lot. I've tried:
Still does not work. The only solution I havcn't been able to try is checking for Adobe updates. When I follow links to supposed Adobe updates, it takes me to deals on Adobe Reader. When I follow links to update patches, I get an error message that the program to be updated may be missing. Acrobat is definitely installed on my computer. It worked just fine until recently. I was disabling start up applications and accidently disabled Adobe Updater. Now, no Acrobat. How do I fix this?

Update: I can open Adobe Acrobat through Avast sandbox. If Avast is blocking Adobe programs with a firewall, how do I turn it off?

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.
Please try to turn off the Avast security software on your computer for testing and then try to open the application and check.
Note: Please turn on the security after testing to avoid any security risk.
Also, please try to white list the Adobe Application from the Avast security software and see if that works for you.
Thanks
Amal

Yes, my question is How do I white list it? I have had both Avast and Adobe for many years with no issue, I'm assuming one of the two had a recent update that caused an issue, but I'm not seeing anywhere to approve Adobe or conversely I'm not seeing anywhere Adobe is blocked.

Hi there
Please check the article that I have found https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Antivirus-scan-exclusions and see if that helps.
Also, try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there.
If it still doesn't work, please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html, reboot the computer, and reinstall the application using the link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html
Regards
Amal
