Adobe Acrobat XI Pro-Bookmarks: Creating each bookmark within a pdf with an ending page

Adobe Acrobat XI Pro-Bookmarks: After creating the bookmarks,
how do I edit it such that each bookmark ends at a certain page and you are
force to go back to the book mark to get to the next bookmarked section? (for
example, if there is a bookmark for chapter 1 and chapter 2.  I want to set up the bookmarks in such a way,
that the reader clicks on chapter 1 and only sees chapter 1 pages and can’t
keep paging down to see chapter 2. If the reader wants to see chapter 2, they
would have to click on the bookmark for chapter 2.)

It's not possible to do that with a regular PDF. What you can do is create a file with just a cover page and the bookmarks, and set the bookmarks to open other PDF files which are attached to the main one (basically, like a Portfolio). That way they would need to click the bookmark to access each part of the file (or they could access it directly via the Attachments panel).

i'm a little unfamiliar with "setting the bookmarks to open other pdf files which are attached to the main one".  How do you go about doing that? thanks.

If you want a booked marked item to cover a set area of the PDF, then look at making an "article" and having the bookmark open that named article.

gkaiseril, is this similar to what try67 mentioned? i'm not that familiar with "making an article".  I tried googling it but didn't come up with anything.  I have over 20 individual pdfs section that I had combine into one file.  Then I created bookmarks for each sections, I didn't see any features in the pdf that will allow me to create a bookmark such that it only cover a set area.  Can you please advise on the steps? Thanks.

Hi Try67 and gkaiserill,

So I tried again to see if I can create a bookmark, set to open other pdf files.  So in the main document, on one of the bookmarks. I right click on the bookmark, clicked on properties, selected "Actions tab", then where it saids "Add an action" - I clicked on the drop down menu and selected "open a file", then clicked add, a directory pops up, and I selected the pdf file that I want it to open up to.  However, when I do click on the bookmark, it forces me to close the main file and opens up the pdf that I directed it to.  How do I keep it from forcing me to close the main document?

Use the "go to a pave view" action, instead.

HI, I had it on "go to page view" from the beginning. However, I don't want to be able to page down to the next section.  I want it to end at a certain page.  So, if I wanted to get to the next section, I would have to click on the bookmark.  Do you know how I can do that?
