Adobe Desktop not recognizing text

New Here ,
Aug 26, 2021 Aug 26, 2021

I have the adobe pro DC And I checked to make sure it's up to date.

I'm using a mac, but I never had problems with this b4 a last week.

I used to be able to click edit PDF and it would Auto recognize the text and let me edit and do so copy and paste. Now every PDF I open is being treated as a image. It won't recognize the text so I can't copy and paste.

When I click edit PDF all the tools are greyed out, Even on PDFs I used to be able to edit

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi Vjstrube

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you are unable to edit the PDF files as every file is treated as an image and it won't recognize the text.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. Also, please share the file with us so that we can check it at our end.

Also, check if the document has some kind of editing restriction on it. Open the PDF > File > Document Properties > Security > Check the document restriction summary.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the latest version installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates and reboot the computer once.

Try to repair the installation from the help menu (windows Only) and reboot the computer once. Go to Help > Repair Installation.

Also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described in the help page https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792...

You may also try to create  new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there.

Regards

Amal
