Adobe Font isn't recognized by Acrobat

Hello,

I want to use Open Sans font for my PDF documents: https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/open-sans#fonts-section

The font is added via Adobe Fonts (saying "Remove") and also installed on my Windows PC. When I create a document (any document, for example using MS Word, or generate a report from MS Access), I can use the font normally. When I print the document using my laser printer, the font is displayed correctly as well.

However, the problem comes when I try to export the document to PDF, using either of these options:

  • Export > Create Adobe PDF
  • Export > Create document PDF/XPS (using built in Word feature)
  • Print > Use printer Adobe PDF

It displays "Courier" instead, and everything is messed up (no bold text, wrong text size and so on).

"Use local fonts" is checked in my Acrobat settings.

Would you have any tips about what I could do about this?

Thank you, Tomas

Open Sans can also be sourced from Google fonts. Please verify that you do not have installed both, the Adobe fonts version and the Google fonts version. Best would be to use the Google fonts version, as you can install that one normally on your system, using OS tools.
