Adobe Print to PDF produces hundreds of open text files

I am helping one of our users who is encountering something strange on her PC. When she prints a document to PDF her computer will start opening hundreds of text files that all have an error message similar to the one below:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

I understand that this is likely because the document is encrypted, however on other machines it will simply create one log file and save it where the PDF had been pointed. What I would like to understand is why her device keeps opening these files, but never saves one. Is there a way to force adobe to not post these errors? On the occasion one happens I feel it would be better to get no warning than these hundreds of documents.

Any time I experience something strange in Acrobat (and what you see would definitely qualify), I try to repair my Acrobat installation. In the Windows version, you will find the repair function under the Help menu. If that does not help, and a simple uninstall and re-install will not fix the problem, I use the Adobe Acrobat Cleaner application: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html

Thank you for the tip, I have tried repairs and uninstall/reinstall. But I have yet to utilize the cleaner utility, I will give that a go and see what happens.

Good luck, I hope it will resolve your problem. As I said, this is my tool for when weird stuff is going on.

Hi Trevin, were you able to resolve this issue using the Adobe Cleaner or any other means?

If not, has anyone else been able to resolve this? I'm currently experiencing the same thing with a user.
