Adobe Slow when Combining PDF files

New Here ,
Sep 29, 2021 Sep 29, 2021

As noted in similar posts, after the first 20-30 files Adobe slows down tremendously.  Working for an engineering firm which we routinely issue combined documents and drawings, this has been an extraordinary experience as of late which will cause us to look at other tools such as Bluebeam to initiate these processes.  Currently we are combining 110 specification sections which have taken 24 minutes to combine.  The files range in sizes from 16kb up to 616kb.

An unacceptable delay for this basic process, at the price point for this software.

This will not fix your problem, but here is a workaround:

Try to combine the files in stages (e.g. files 1-20, 21-40, 41-60 and so on), and then in a final step combine the intermediary files into the final file. That should be faster.

You may want to file a bug about the performance when combining many files: http://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html
