Hi Jeremyg31156267,

Please share the exact workflow you are following to understand the issue better.

Also you may refer to the link below and see if it helps:

Add headers, footers, and Bates numbering to PDFs, Adobe Acrobat

Thanks,

Supriya

I am creating a PDF document and I can add the headers and Footers. But sometimes I need another individual on the team to update the document and they would need to readd the headers and Footers. What we have found is that they have to recreate the headers and Footers for themselves to be able to add then. I would like to share my header footer template with them so that they would already be in the drop-down when they click add header.

What program did you use to author the source file the PDF was created from?

If you add headers in the authoring program they cannot be mass changed in Acrobat.

I am creating the document in PDF. I'm taking a bunch of word docs putting them in PDF portfolio and then combining them into a single PDF at that point I'll put the headers and Footers because otherwise the page and bring the rest would be off. I want to share the headers and Footers so that if somebody else's creating the document out of the portfolio they have footers on their machines

Thanks.  I thought so but my work computer for some reason wouldn't show me the Roaming app data path.

It is a hidden system file.

Yuo can change Windows option to show hidden and system files or use the system variable %appdata% in the adress line.

Edited to correct system variable name.

I changed to show hidden.  There were just some folders labeled appdata which was why I forgot it was hidden.

You can use an other file manager.

What about Mac directory?

I'm trying to send the header footer presets to Mac.

I' not sure if it's possible to do the above.

But if so, want to make sure where the file is stored.

Hope you can reach me soon.

Thanks,
Cody

In Acrobat, open the JS Console (Cmd+J) and run the following command by pasting the code into it and then pressing Shift+Enter:

app.getPath("user", "preferences");

This will print out the location of the Preferences folder referred to above. Open it and then look for the "HeaderFooter" sub-folder within it.

This too will be hidden on a Mac. Be sure you know how to get to a hidden folder (for example Go > Go to folder in Finder will do it with the full pathname).
