Hi,

*If you're trying to do this manually:

In Microsoft Windows, you should be able to back up an entire or partial registry hive through the registry editor.

The method is very straight forward as shown in this Micrososft Support link:

However, there are many different types of default preferences that are stored in different areas of a Microsoft Windows environment.

It is worth noting that many of the directory paths that you may need to access in order to capture all of the desired Acrobat Preferences are managed (and locked) by the operating system itslef .

The user data that you intend to back up also depends on what  type of user account(s) are you using as you try to perform a  backup procedure.

For instance, using a built-in Windows hidden Administrator account, using an Administrator account (manually set by you when Windows was first installed in that computer), using the current user account (which can access a few things but is limited only to that current user), or using any other user accounts that you might've added in that system over time.

With that in mind, trying to access  registry hives that control any of the settings for the account types mentioned above, it may also vary significantly amongst the version of the operating system in use and in which directory the Adobe Acrobat Pro was installed and holding on to those user accounts preferences.

That being the case, consider  in which operating system version are you on.

**If you're trying to backup Preferences because you're upgrading the operating system:

Also be familiarized with  how the Adobe Acrobat Pro version that you're using will be installed in a newer operating system version of Windows: 32bit or 64bit ?

Since the dynamic link libraries (.dll) files, and the setup, repair or modification files (that are provided with the original Microsoft installer (.msi) file), that were used to install your current version of Adobe Acrobat in your current version of Microsoft Windows, has to be the same as the one that you're using now to back up users preferences.

This is in order to avoid version detection conflicts when you upgrade or simply or if you're reinstalling a fresh version of Adobe Acrobat Pro on that computer (this is just a suggestion and a valid observation, but I may be partially wrong).

Only .msi files know how to uninstall themselves; forcing manual uninstall methods through the Control Panel or disabling Program features may throw errors with a newer software installation... just extra food for thought.
