Hi. When I edit a text box in Acrobat it leaves behind an outline of the previous text. How do I get rid of this? TIA.

Most likely, the text that you were “editing” in Acrobat originated in an application that not only provided filled text, but also provided a vector outline around that text (as opposed to using the correct PDF constructs for either fill, outline, or both fill and outline text). When trying to edit such text in Acrobat, Acrobat only “sees” the filled text. The outlines look like vector artwork – Acrobat has no way of knowing the kludge applied by the authoring software.
The only way to edit such text is to go back to the original application with the original source file and fix the text there.
FWIW, this is a known problem with artificially emboldened (via outlining) text in both Adobe InDesign and Illustrator for which a bug has been filed and the teams are indeed working on a solution that would resolve this type (no pun intended) of problem.

Many thanks Dov. I suspect I created the document in Illustrator and saved it as a pdf thinking I wouldn't need it again.

In this business, you need to be somewhat paranoid, keeping n-generation of source files and assets because you will never know what will happen.
