Getting a blank signature on a signed document when opening in Adobe Acrobat Pro Continuous Release on MacOS.
The document is signed as there is a screenshot, but when I open it the Signature field is blank.

I worked out that the signature was in a Comment stamp and that the text field was ordered on top of it. Frustratingly the image could not be overlaid in the front - despite this being an exact option in the image's properties. Super annoying design. Won't be posting the file as it contains sensitive content, but thanks for your help.

Can you share the document in question? Answering (potentially) document specific questions without the document in question usually is pure guesswork...

Ah. As far as I know Adobe handles form fields differently from the specification to prevent fraud. Annotations in front of form field widgets can make the field contents appear different than they are. Also some innovative use of annotations allowed them to be removed from a signed document without Acrobat reporting this.
To make these and other field related scams more difficult, Adobe introduced some special behavior of form fields.
