Book scan double pages to single pages

If I have a scanned book with double pages, what is the best way to turn it into a PDF with single pages (using Acrobat DC or maybe Indesign)? So that each book page is on a PDF page of the appropriate size. Some kind of automation would be quite good.

Assuming your "scanned book" is in PDF then check out my answer here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/convert-2-page-scan-to-1-page-pdf/m-p/12872319

Cheers!
