Calculating check boxes

Explorer ,
Jan 11, 2021 Jan 11, 2021

20210111_105011[7289].jpg

I've added this blue text box left of perception and a bunch of check boxes to the right of it.

In that blue text box, I want it to calculate the check boxes. From left to right the names of the check boxes are as follows: PerceptionNeg, Perception 1, Perception 2, Perception 3, Perception 4.

The calculation should be: Perception 1 + Perception 2 + Perception 3 + Perception 4 - PerceptionNeg

I want to do a calculation similar to this several times in this PDF, Can someone help me? How would I do this?

I haven't put in any numeric values. The boxes to the right of "Perception" are just checkable boxes. What I want is for that blue box to the left of perception to change its value whenever someone checks a box. How do I add a numerical value to a checked box?

You can use a script to do it, or the Simple Field Notation option, but that one is a bit tricky because of the spaces in your field names. Try this formula:

Perception\ 1 + Perception\ 2 + Perception\ 3 + Perception\ 4 - PerceptionNeg

I first I tried it the way you suggested, and then i just tried to use the simple addition with a few to see if it would work, and that didn't work either.

Did you change the value of one of the fields after applying the calculation?

I hit preview and tried checking and unchecking the boxes to see if the value changed, but it didn't.

In Preview mode the calculations don't work. You need to return to the normal viewing mode.

You can attach it to the original message using the tiny paperclip icon at the bottom when you edit it, or upload it to a file-sharing website (like Dropbox, Google Drive, Adobe Cloud, etc.), generate a share link and then post it here.

What are you adding up there, exactly? You need to apply a numeric value as the export value of the check-boxes, and then it could work.

Go to the field's Properties, Options tab and change the Export Value from Yes to a number.
