Can no longer type to replace text

New Here ,
Aug 16, 2023 Aug 16, 2023

A while ago my adobe updated to version 23.0 and I now have the modern look. I am an editor and am constantly using markup tools on PDFs to make edits. I used to just be able to put my cursor somewhere and start typing to insert text or highlight text and start typing to replace text with markup tools, but I now have to highlight, right click, and select replace text. Although this seems like a small issue, it is adding a lot of time to my work. Is there a way to make it so I can just type and the markup appears like it used to?

To go back to the old UI click the Options button at the top left corner (Windows) or open the View menu (Mac) and select Disable New Acrobat.

Hi @chronis_9775,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat.

You might want to try going through the help article for more information: Searching PDFs, Adobe Acrobat

Also adding a screen recording video of how to do so for reference.

Hope this helps.

Hello Souvik,

I dont see how this is useful to me?

Select the ellipsis as shown to replace a word, and select Replace text.
Now, enter the word you want it replaced with and select Replace.

This is exactly what i said was my issue, that i need to click 3 times in
order to replace text while i used to be able to just put my cursor
highlight and type to replace the text.

Hi @chronis_9775,

Thanks for the response.

If I get into Edit mode and start reading the PDF, I can drag-select the area of text and start typing to replace it.

Another method I could think of is to drag-select the text and start typing what I need to. This strikes through the main text and adds annotations to the same section.

These are the two workflows.

The one mentioned in the original post suggests the latter workflow that I described but does not match your case.

Would you mind sharing a step-by-step example of the workflow you were practicing so we can better understand it and provide you with a solution?

Thanks,

Souvik
